Trinity College is embracing the Synod’s theme of Renewal, as they reactivated the Ministry Candidate’s retreat over the Australia Day weekend – the first one in quite a few years.
Candidates met at the wonderful Alex Park Conference centre, engaging in a variety of activities and learning experiences design to bring them together as a community, and stretch them for the call God has on their lives.
They were thrown in the deep end – quite literally – with a number of instant group challenges overseen by Becky Clark who gave her time for the event. These group challenges saw them; building grand sandcastles, coming up with impromptu Bible skits, and rescuing drowning fish without getting wet!
The team having fun with impromptu Bible skits.
Embracing our inner-child with sandcastles.
The challenges not only saw them test and develop their team skills, but had them laughing in hysterics at the wild ideas and acting talent in the group. Principal Paul Jones drew them in with his morning devotions, demonstrating how Biblical literacy moves both the mind and heart, and Candidates explored the beginnings of a framework for discipleship in Ministry, being encouraged to know God and themselves.
This is all part of Trinity’s charge to produce mission ready graduates across the church. You don’t have to be a candidate to be part of that. Check out Trinity’s website for short courses, and in-depth academic units.
